WordPress defaults to allowing all Mime types to be uploaded if the user has the upload file permission. This can lead to users uploading files that are potential security risks. As a developer, I have found myself in a situation where I wanted to overwrite the pre-upload script a few times because the default one didn’t have the functionality that I required. This is where Restrict WP Upload Type plugin is useful, allowing you to specify a list of Mime types that should be allowed or blocked from being uploaded via WordPress.
This plugin makes it easy to control what types of files (file extensions and MIME types) can be uploaded to your Media Library. How hard is it to protect against malicious files? Not hard at all with this plugin!
How to use it:
1. Install and enable the plugin from the admin panel.
2. Goto the plugin’s settings page and select what types of files allowed to be uploaded to your Media Library.
